Parents Center
The Parents Center works to reunite and stabilize families in Santa Cruz County with the overarching goal of helping them to achieve child safety, well being and self sufficiency. We strive to provide evidence based services that lead to quality of life improvements for our most vulnerable populations.
What We Do
Parents Center provides culturally sensitive, integrated mental health and supportive wrap-around services for children and their families in a safe and secure environment.
Our Services
For 45 years, the Parents Center has worked in collaboration with families, Community Partners, and government agencies to earn a long-standing respected place in our community. We respect that we all come from different backgrounds, customs and beliefs. We strive to constantly evolve our approach to insure the best possible outcomes for the families we serve.
Counseling
The Parents Center provides culturally competent, professional counseling and adjunct services for Medi-Cal Eligible Youth ages 3-18 and their families. Our staff utilizes various evidence-based treatment modalities that are focused on helping children with emotional and behavioral challenges to attain the necessary coping and life skills to help them succeed. To best serve the diverse needs of our clients, we develop individualized assessment and treatment plans delivered in a safe and supportive environment.

Leaps and Bounds
Leaps and Bounds is a voluntary program for families with children 0 -7 in family reunification or family maintenance who are interested in learning about and supporting their child’s/children’s development as well as learning new parenting strategies. Leaps and Bounds is a unique program because the Children’s Services Coordinators can continue to work with families after their FCS case is dismissed. When everyone else steps out of the picture, we can continue to support families with whatever they may need.
PC Care
PC-Care is a 6-week intervention designed to improve the quality of the caregiver-child relationship and to teach caregiver skills to help them manage their children's difficult behaviors. In PC-Care, therapists teach and coach caregivers to increase their positive caregiving skills and to find the behavior management strategies that are most effective for their family. PC Care is an excellent system for improving child parent interaction. PC Care promotes healthy relationships between parents and children, and it has become a widely used intervention for many at-risk families. This treatment method is often used with foster and adoptive families and by people involved with the child welfare system, but any family experiencing challenges with interaction between parent and child may find PC Care helpful.
