The Parents Center provides culturally competent, professional counseling and adjunct services for
Medi-Cal Eligible Youth ages 3-18 and their families. Our staff utilizes various evidence-based treatment modalities that are focused on helping children with emotional and behavioral challenges to attain the necessary coping and life skills to help them succeed. To best serve the diverse needs of our clients, we develop individualized assessment and treatment plans delivered in a safe and supportive environment.​

We provide counseling/therapy services to our most vulnerable families throughout Santa Cruz County, utilizing a wrap-around model in multiple settings, including families, homes, schools, community and our offices in both north and south county.

Job Requirements and Duties
A Parent Mentor should be personally committed to a clean and sober lifestyle for themselves and their children and dedicated to helping parents learn how to navigate treatment and/or attend to their mental health in order to gain the tools necessary to become safe parents. A Parent Mentor must be able to balance professional responsibilities with their personal life, despite the likelihood of overlap between the two.

A Parent Mentor provides guidance and support to parents in the Dependency Court system, which could include, but is not limited to:
· Attending important meetings with parent and their social workers
· Attending court
· Transporting clients to AA/NA meetings
· Transporting clients to treatment
· Attending house showings and or meetings with parent’s housing navigator
· Attending Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings
· Maintaining files with client progress notes
· Working with parent attorneys to identify potential clients for Family Preservation Court (FPC) and assist them through the application process for FPC
· Sharing their personal experience with the court process, motivating and enhancing the ability of each parent to successfully reunify with their children.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
· Must have:
o Lived experience navigating the child welfare system and successfully reunifying
o A minimum of one-year of continuous recovery and abstinence from substances.
o A working knowledge of the Twelve-Step recovery programs
o Knowledge of how to work with parents with mental health, substance use and trauma
o Ability to read and write and maintain files
o High school diploma/GED
o Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain required insurance
o Personal use of vehicle
· Ideally have:
o Bilingual (Spanish)
o Bachelors Degree

Family Time Supervisor (2 openings, 1 bilingual only)

Job Requirements and Duties
Under the supervision of the Family Time Team Supervisor, the Family Time Supervisor provides court-ordered supervised family time (visits) for children (ages 0-17) and their families while they are in foster care. Family Time Supervisors are required to facilitate visits with referred parents and their children in
order to monitor, teach, and encourage healthy parent-child relationships and assist children and parents in the work of family reunification and preservation whenever possible. Requires extensive transportation and use of personal vehicle.
The Family Time Supervisor is a dynamic position that includes the following core competencies:

High level of communication, organizational, computer and writing skills

Familiarity with symptoms and behaviors of mental health

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
Must have:

Experience working with children and families
-
Provide safe transportation as needed to various locations throughout the county

Schedule and manage visits

Review case histories and presenting problems of referred families

Work collaboratively with social workers, resource parents, therapists, and any others involved with the family

Participate in weekly supervision
-
Write visitation logs, timely and accurately

Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds

Ability to work evenings and weekends, as needed

Ideally have:
o Bachelor’s Degree in related field
o Strong computer literacy
o Ability to speak and write in both Spanish and English
